Volunteers from Devon Contract Waste (DCW) and their customers across Devon united to help protect Teignmouth’s treasured coastline, by taking part in a beach clean that supports this month’s Marine Conservation Society’s, Great British Beach Clean campaign.
The campaign is one of the UK’s largest citizen science initiatives, bringing communities together to clean beaches while gathering valuable data that helps drive national action on marine pollution.
The team from DCW invited customers to join them in Teignmouth, at a much-loved stretch of the Devon coastline, for this year’s beach clean and collected an impressive 10 bags of litter.
Halulu, a local beach front cocktail bar, and customer of DCW, helped host the event, with the team getting stuck in alongside DCW to collect litter from Teignmouth beach and surrounding streets, before helping separate the waste to ensure as much as possible could be recycled.
“Our beach is one of Teignmouth’s greatest assets, and it belongs to all of us. It was brilliant to come together and to help look after our beach and town. We’re really proud to have been part of it.” Said Suzie and Marnie, Management team at Halulu.
As a waste management company working with businesses across Devon, DCW sees first-hand the difference that small changes can make to how waste is managed.
