South West waste management services firm DCW acquires plastic processing company in strategic expansion plan

Devon based commercial waste management firm DCW has announced the acquisition of Ivybridge based plastic processing company, Polymer Industries – now renamed DCW Polymers.

This is the latest in a series of acquisitions for DCW, after the company announced its expansion into Cornwall with the acquisition of Alpha Logic in May, and the take-over of County Skip Hire in February. Following the acquisition, DCW can now recycle specialist plastics as well as common industrial packaging. DCW handles around 2000 tonnes of plastic every year.

Established in 2013, Polymer Industries turned over £600k and had nine full time members of staff, all of whom have retained their positions.

DCW managing director, Simon Almond, said: “Polymer Industries brings a wealth of expertise in plastic re-use, as well as our own processing facility where we can develop UK markets for the plastics we already collect, making a fully traceable loop. Having the knowledge of plastic in house enables us to help our clients with packaging choices and a facility in the South West where it can be re-processed. We are particularly pleased to have kept all nine full-time staff from Polymer Industries and look forward to creating more jobs for South West residents at DCW Polymers.”

The 16000 square foot processing plant and external storage yard holds four plastic shredders and eight granulators which turn waste plastics back into plastic granules, which can then go straight back into the manufacturing process.
